Josef Furthner was born in Zell and der Pram in 1890. He attended woodworking college in Hallstatt and then studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His frolicking cherubs reflected the Baroque tradition of his Innviertel home country. He died in 1971.
