Due to its similarity with the Dorfen miraculous image of the Blessed Virgin in vestments, which was also revered in the Innviertel, this icon is also known as the Dorfen Madonna. Whether it was a deliberate imitation of that icon remains an open question.

What we do know is that a Gothic figure of Mary from the 15th century was given sweeping, glorious wooden vestments 300 years later. They are made up of countless boards and pieces of wood and are attached to the wooden Gothic figure, which has been cut to size, with dowels. Painted white, the dress is patterned with diamond shapes and bouquets of flowers and has a wide gold trim.

Of the Gothic sculpture, only the heads of Mary and the Child Jesus, and one hand of each, can be seen. Following the example of the Maria Dorfen icon, the hands probably held bouquets and rosaries at one time.
