Wilhelm Schnabl was born in Bohemia in 1904. In the 1930s he worked as an art master at the high school in Ried, focusing on drawings of the inhabitants of the retirement home. He was a friend of the Woitsch family and of Walther Gabler. Even after his transfer to Kufstein in 1936, he corresponded constantly with Ried painter Adolf Rauch, and also with Alfred Kubin. His pen and ink sketches are characterised by tongue-in-cheek humour.
Wilhelm Schnabl died in 1990.
