The crosses of St. Ulrich were made in Augsburg. They are symbols of victory. An angel is said to have presented a cross like this to St. Ulrich in 955 during the Battle of Lechfeld against the Hungarians. Crosses of St. Ulrich were buried in the ground in many regions as protection against plagues of mice.

The Scheyr crosses have a double bar. They were amulets that protected against fire and lightning, and also protected crops against hail and pests.
