Louis Hofbauer was born in the Crimea in 1889 and studied at the Vienna Academy. He settled first in Strasswalchen and after joining the Innviertel Artists’ Guild eventually moved to Munderfing.
His still lives, his portrait of the writer Richard Billinger and his sketches of the Sermon on the Mount show a diverse and nuanced use of colour.
Louis Hofbauer died in 1932.
