Hugo von Preen was born in 1854 in Osternberg near Braunau. The Osternberg estate belonged to him. Art students from Munich met here in the summer months of the late 19th century. Members of the Osternberg artists’ colony were committed to painting in the open air. They included major artists such as Franz von Stuck and Ludwig von Herterich.
Hugo von Preen’s work is represented here by a view of the Salzburg suburbs from Braunau and two portraits. He died in 1941.
